A 20-year-old girl reported to our dental clinic seeking to treat the unsightly gap between her upper front teeth which made her very conscious and she was not able to smile confidently. She was to get married in a few days and she wanted a quick smile correction.
It was seen that the gap between her upper central incisors was due to an abnormal frenal attachment. The labial frenum is a fold of tissue that connects the inner side of the lip to the gums.
