This was a case of unilateral cleft lip and palate, where primary lip, palate, bone grafting was previously done by Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. S. M. Balaji. Due to cleft alveolar defect upper left lateral incisor and canine teeth were missing. Following orthodontic treatment, missing lateral incisor was replaced with dental implant. Naturally well blended fixed ceramic crown was given which enhanced the appearance. Patient feels comfortable to have fixed dental implant replacement for her missing teeth.
Successful lateral incisor replacement with dental implant following alveolar bone grafting in a cleft girl
This is a case of unilateral cleft lip and palate, where primary cleft lip, palate was previously operated by Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. S. M. Balaji. Due to cleft alveolar defect, her upper left lateral incisor was missing subsequently central incisor and canine teeth were also displaced giving an unsightly crowded appearance. Following cleft alveolar reconstruction with iliac bone grafting, Dr. Balaji extracted the central incisor and canine teeth and immediately replaced her missing teeth with implants gaining good alveolar bone retention and stability. Naturally well blended ceramic bridge fixed into the dental implants. Patient is very happy to have a confident smile which improved her appearance dramatically.
