A 28-year-old woman came to our dental clinic seeking to replace her missing upper front teeth. Several weeks back she had met with a vehicular accident in which she had lost the upper left central & lateral incisor. This left an unsightly gap in her front teeth affecting her smile and making it difficult to bite into foods. She wanted a fixed replacement of the missing teeth. Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist Dr. S.M. Balaji successfully placed dental implants in the jaw bone in the missing teeth region. Ceramic crowns of a color closely resembling natural teeth were fixed to the implants. Following treatment completion, the woman was very happy to have fixed teeth with which she can bite foods with ease and smile confidently. A 20-year-old girl reported to our dental clinic seeking to treat the unsightly gap between her upper front teeth which made her very conscious and she was not able to smile confidently. She was to get married in a few days and she wanted a quick smile correction.
It was seen that the gap between her upper central incisors was due to an abnormal frenal attachment. The labial frenum is a fold of tissue that connects the inner side of the lip to the gums. When it is attached too closely to the gums margin, it causes diastema (spacing between teeth) leading to aesthetic problems. Our cosmetic dentistry specialist successfully performed a labial frenectomy of the abnormally positioned tissue and the gap was closed with LCR (light cure restoration) with exact color match. The girl was very happy with the instant results and to have an attractive, beautiful smile. A 26-year-old female reported to our dental clinic with a complaint of excruciating pain & continuous pus discharge in relation to the implant in her upper front tooth region, which was placed in a dental clinic elsewhere few months back. She wanted complete relief from the problem, remove the implant & replace it with a new implant.
Clinical and radiological examination revealed severe infection in relation to the implant in the upper right central incisor region that was placed elsewhere. Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist Dr. S.M. Balaji removed the failed implant and performed a thorough curettage of the infected region. The patient was treated for the infection which subsequently cleared in 1 month. Dr. Balaji placed a new implant achieving good stability & retention and a ceramic crown with good color match was fixed. The patient was very happy to have a natural, pleasing smile and to have the treatment successfully completed quickly. |
