A 36-year old female reported to our clinic with a complaint of pain in the left side of her lower jaw. She had undergone dental implant treatment and bridge prosthesis elsewhere in Chennai. An X-ray showed the dental implants were broken and the treatment had failed. The broken crowns were removed.

Maxillary Surgeon and Implantologist Dr. S.M. Balaji skillfully retrieved the broken implants without causing any damage to the surrounding jaw bone. New implants were placed in the same site preserving the supporting bone. After successful osseointegration, naturally well blended fixed ceramic prosthesis were fixed to the implants. The patient was very happy to be relieved of pain and she is now able to chew and eat well.

A 20 year old girl reported to our dental clinic with a complaint of missing teeth due to accidental injury 2 years back and the upper front teeth were badly broken which were removed elsewhere. She was wearing removable denture which was loose & uncomfortable and she felt very self-conscious.

On thorough clinical and radiological examination, thin crestal bone was seen in the missing teeth region. Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist Dr. S.M. Balaji expertly performed the jaw and teeth rehabilitation. The over-retained deciduous teeth adjacent to the missing teeth region were extracted. The thin jaw bone was augmented with bone graft harvested from the mandibular symphysis region and dental implants were placed. The jaw bone strengthened with the bone graft integrated well with the implants and good retention and stability was achieved. Ceramic prosthesis was fixed to the implants with superior aesthetic results. The girl was very happy to enhance her smile and the fixed prosthesis boosted her self-confidence.
