A 30 year old man reported to our hospital with the complaints of pain in the mobile upper front teeth. He gave the history of trauma few years back in upper jaw and lost a single tooth in the upper front tooth region. Due to the trauma infection developed in the teeth. Three months back root canal treatment with apicectomy procedure was done elsewhere. Due to the pain and mobility he was not able to eat and discoloration in the teeth made him feel disappointed.

After thorough clinical and radiological examination, mobile teeth with severe external root resorption were planned for extraction. Maxillofacial Surgeon & Implantologist Dr. S. M. Balaji extracted the teeth with severe root resorption; infected bone was removed with bone curette. Simultaneously implant was fixed in the missing tooth and extracted socket region with good stability. Bone chips obtained from the operated site was preserved and it was used to cover the exposed implant surface. Periosteal flap was sutured back. After three months, implant was loaded with fixed ceramic prosthesis replacing both the cosmetic and functional aspect of his natural teeth.

A young man reported to our dental clinic complaining of severe pain in his upper front teeth. He gave a history of having undergone root canal treatment elsewhere for his upper front teeth followed by crowns.

A digital radiography revealed lesions indicating infection at the apex of both teeth, more severe on the right tooth than the left with external root resorption due to insufficient filling in the apical third of the root.

Maxillofacial Surgeon and Implantologist Dr. S. M. Balaji expertly planned for replacing the infected tooth with implants. The infected upper right central incisor was extracted.
