This is a case of prognathic lower jaw. She came with the complaint of long, protruding lower jaw due to which she was not able to chew foods and speak properly. After thorough clinical and radiological examination, Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. S. M. Balaji planned to correct her bite surgically by removing the mandibular excess.
Following Obwegeser’s sagittal split osteotomy (Bilateral sagittal split osteotomy), excessive length of the mandible was removed intraorally. This improved her appearance dramatically and she is very happy to have her jaw corrected which improved her chewing efficiency and able to speak properly without any scars on her face.
